Hard work, honesty, having fun and smiling are values that carry me through my professional career. What drives my passion is traveling, yoga and technology. They have sustained me during challenging times both personally and professionally. When these three passions converged., a began to develop balance, strength and courage. I serves me and those who employ my professional services.
In the late 90' and early 2000, in my role as director of training and communication and instructor of Boston University school of public health, I took a delegation of faculty from Boston University Medical School toAntigua, Health Sciences School of Medicine to set up a basic sciences teaching, learning and technology lab for a new medical school. Antigua is one of the 2 major islands that make up the Caribbean nation of Antigua and Barbuda. It was a fabulous opportunity to travel to a beautiful Island, nurture my yoga practice and dedicate my professional skills to building an educational technology lab to facilitate self-directed learning.
We worked four days in the scorching heat, running wires, installing laptops, downloading applications. We trained basic sciences faculty in how to use computers and the applications to help facilitate their teaching of medical sciences. Four faculty members with their spouses, children and me with mine stayed at a comfortable condo stacked with food and a chef. Our families spent the days at the St. James Club while we spent the mornings at the school and met up over afternoon tea under the white umbrellas by the crystal blue ocean water. The experience has always stayed with me.
The traveling seed was planted and its been growing ever since. Honesty, hard work and smiling has paid off. The picture is in Germany of what I hope is our first Viking Cruise to Germany.
